SEND Strategy (2018 -2021) consultation - your views needed

Rose Hampton from Staffordshire County Council’s communications team has asked us here at Staffordshire SENDIASS (SEND Family Partnership) to share SCC's proposed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy (2018 -2021) consultation with you to seek your views.

Staffordshire is ambitious. We have aspirations that all our children and young people will reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives in their local communities.

Staffordshire has a lot to be proud of when it comes to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). All our special schools are rated as good or outstanding by Ofsted;  The number of people with SEND participating in education, employment and/or training is good and continues to grow and our newly relaunched SEND Local Offer website is much stronger, more user friendly and wider ranging.

Whilst much progress has been made, we know that there is still more we can do to improve the lives of our children and young people with SEND.

The proposed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Strategy outlines our vision and plans for supporting children throughout their time in education. We want our children and young people to live as independently as possible, to learn, achieve and make progress in their local area and to be safe, secure, happy and healthy.

We want to hear your thoughts on the proposals. We are publicly consulting on the strategy until 21st December 2018.

You can complete the consultation online.

If have any questions, or need the consultation document in any other format, please send your request to communications@staffordshire.gov.uk
